Two men have denied a series of historic child abuse charges relating to a former children’s home in Abergavenny.
On 1st August Angus Riddell (69) and Robin Griffiths (65) appeared at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court. Between them, they face 45 charges involving 16 alleged victims.
The offences are said to have taken place mainly at the Coed Glas Assessment Centre between the 1970s and 1990s.
Mr Riddell has been charged with 38 offences, including three counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 16, and one count of attempting to indecently assault a girl under 16.
He has also been charged with 14 counts of indecent assault on a boy under 14 and 20 counts of assault, ill treatment, neglect or abandonment of a child or young person to cause unnecessary suffering or injury.
Mr Griffiths has been charged with seven counts of indecent assault on a boy under the age of 14.
Both men have pleaded not guilty and have been released on bail until their trial, which is due to start on 18th January 2027.
